When thinking about bathroom remodeling most people are quick to consider new vanity tops, fixtures, and tile. All too often, however, these new features are put in place without much consideration for a couple of other important elements: glass mirrors and shower doors. These items ought to be the perfect finishing touches to a bathroom upgrade. So, what are the latest trends?

Bathroom Mirrors Should Complete Not Compete

Bathroom Mirrors

Well-chosen bathroom mirrors complement the size, style, and color of the room. The rule here is to select a mirror (or mirrors) that best fits the space. The last thing you want is for the looking glass to distract from the rest of the room, but there is no “one size fits all” method for mirrors.

Two mirrors can make a bath feel homey and look great over double sinks. A long mirror can enlarge the feeling of a small bath. Oval mirrors soften the edges of the typical square or rectangular bathroom. Mirror frame colors can vary widely, but look great when matched with the cabinets and fixtures. The overall goal in mirror selection is to choose something that works well with the style of the room.

Shower Doors Highlight the Best of the Bathroom

Shower curtains may have served the old bathroom just fine, but a newly remodeled shower comes complete with artistic tile, shiny surfaces, and great looking hardware. It would be a shame to hide all that behind a curtain. This is why glass remains the most popular shower door material. However, there are many different choices among glass doors.
Frameless

Clear glass allows for full light to come in, makes small spaces seem bigger, and shows off the shower tile. The frosted glass may be preferred for shy users and can add soft warmth to the room. Rain textured glass can add a classic look to your bath upgrade. Tinted glass can match the color of the shower tile or floor to neatly tie the room elements together.

The various glass doors can be installed differently according to the needs of the space.  Sliding doors are nice for large openings and pivot doors work well in small areas. Today’s glass doors can be sold with frames or without, but the frameless glass is clearly the hottest look today.
