BathCRATE Laurelwood Court in Livermore, CA Complete!

april Bathroom Remodels, Blog

Your bathroom should be a relaxing retreat. To transform this tired bathroom into a tranquil space, these homeowners bridged the beauty from the outdoor scenery by incorporating the natural earth tones into their bathroom design. The warm colors from the vanity, bath and floor tile all influence one another and offer a nice contrast between each element. It’s quite amazing to see how lovely the old vanity now looks once our team was able to apply a rich cherry stain. Don’t forget to take a look at the new shower stall. Applying full-height shower tile and a glass door really helps make this space visually seem so much larger and refined.

But don’t just take our word on how well this job turned out.  Look below for the project specifications and extensive before and after pictures!

Bathroom Day by Day Progress

(Note: We added a few extra days to our normal 7-day process to accommodate the owner-requested add-ons.)

Here’s how we did it:

Day 1 – Demo Day!  On this first day, we set up plastic walls to protect the home from dust, protected the path from the entry door to the bathroom with building paper, and then went to town removing the countertops, backsplash, vanity, shower tile, bathtub surround tile, bathtub and flooring.

Days 2 – 5 – The electrical team began the wiring for the new lighting and the new raised shower head valves were installed. The sheetrock at the bathtub surround was repaired and prepared for new tile and paint. A new shower pan liner and drain were installed. The countertop template was made for fabrication off site and the wall paper was removed.

Days 6 – 8- The painters began to prepare the vanity cabinets for stain by thoroughly sanding and cleaning them.  The painters then masterfully applied Sherwin Williams Classic Cherry Stain to the thoroughly prepared vanity cabinets.  This same staining process was used on the doors and drawers, which are stained off-site in a climate-controlled booth for the highest possible quality.

Days 9 – 11–  The tile artisans were on site to install the shower and tub tile. Arizona Tile Regis Beige 16 x 16 tiles were installed on the shower walls.  The shower floor was tiled with Arizona Tile Regis Noce 2 x 2  tiles. The tile installed at the tub is the same tile used on the shower and on the floor, creating a matched look.

Day 12  – The flooring team was on site to install the new flooring. Arizona Tile Regis Noce tile was installed throughout the bathroom floor and along the tub face.

Day 13 – The installation team arrived to install the Arizona Tile Giallo Santo Granite countertop at the vanity, and the Arizona Tile Ankara Tumbled Travertine backsplash.

Days 14- 16 – All of the walls and ceiling in the bathroom were painted using the highest quality Kelly-Moore paints. The walls were painted in Kelly-Moore Indian Muslin. And the ceilings were painted Kelly-Moore Swiss Coffee. The team also finished up all the electrical and plumbing work on these days.

Days 17 – 18 – The transformation hit the homestretch with the installation of the mirrors, light fixtures, and accessories. The final day of the project also included an array of “touch-up” items: all outlets and switches were replaced, the shower door was installed and the entire project was cleaned, top-to-bottom.
