custom bathroom Livermore.

We see this style of bathroom all the time – oak vanity cabinets, floral wallpaper trim, and lots of tile everywhere. This transformation took a few days longer than our typical bathroom projects because of the new walk-in shower area, but what a transformation! We refinished the vanity cabinets (yes, that’s the same vanity!) plus made a new area for the beautiful freestanding tub and shower. Now that we removed all that small white tile, not only does this bathroom look beautiful and modern but it is so much easier for these homeowners to keep clean. The homeowners almost didn’t recognize their custom bathroom in their Livermore house.

But don’t just take our word on how well this job turned out.  Look below for the project specifications and extensive before and after pictures!

Bathroom Day to Day Progress

(Note: We added a few extra days to our normal 7-day process to accommodate the owner-requested add-ons.)

Here’s how we did it:

Day 1 – Demo Day!  On this first day we start the custom bathroom remodel! We set up plastic walls to protect the home from dust, protected the path from the entry door to the bathroom with building paper, and then went to town removing the countertops, backsplash, vanity, shower tile, bathtub surround tile, bathtub and flooring.

Day 2 – The electrical team began the wiring for the new lighting and the new shower head valves were installed.

Days 3 & 4 –  The team was busy at work modifying the plumbing for a new and beautiful free standing tub. At the shower, the shower glass was removed and walls were built and configured so the shower could be used as a walk in shower, eliminating the need for a shower door.

Days 5 & 6- The sheetrock at the bathtub surround was repaired and prepared for new paint, and a  new shower pan liner was installed

Days 7, 8 & 9– The tile artisans were on site to install tile the shower tile.  Bedrosians Matrix Azul  12″ x 24″ porcelain tiles were installed on the shower walls and Bedrosians Fatima Cream Hemisphere mosaic pebble tiles was used on the shower floor.

Day 10 – The flooring team was on site to install the new flooring. Bedrosians Officine Dark 12″ x 24″ porcelain tile was installed throughout the bathroom.

Day 11 – The countertop installation team arrived to install the Kohler Archer undermount sink in white and the MSI Fossil Gray quartz countertop with a small radius edge.  The same quartz countertop was used to create a 6″ backsplash.

Day 12 – The painters began preparing and priming the vanity cabinets.  Using a high-grade, oil-based primer, every inch of the bathroom vanity cabinets were caulked, sanded and primed.  This is the first (and perhaps most critical) step of creating a durable paint finish. The painters then applied two coats of Kelly-Moore Dura-poxy paint in  Cloud White to the thoroughly sanded and primed vanity cabinets.  This same priming and painting process was used on the doors and drawers, which are painted off-site in a climate-controlled paint booth for the highest possible quality.

Day 13 – All of the walls and ceiling in the bathroom were painted using the highest quality Kelly-Moore paints. The walls were painted in  Kelly-Moore San Francisco Fog. And the ceilings were painting to match the existing color.

Days 14, 15 & 16 – The transformation hit the homestretch with the installation of the beautiful Wyndham Sara free standing bathtub, mirrors, light fixtures, and accessories. The final day of the project also included an array of “touch-up” items: all outlets and switches were replaced, and the entire project was cleaned, top-to-bottom.
