I was (pleasantly) surprised to come home on the completion date of my project to find five kitchenCRATE vehicles in front of my house and a full-on crew working diligently to complete the project on time. This project was turnkey and painless.  No surprises and no complaints!  Thank you!!!!

kitchenCRATE Remodeling Timeline

Here’s how we did it:

Day 1 –  The CRATE team set up plastic walls to protect the home from dust and paint over spray, and protected the path from the entry door to the kitchen with building paper. The appliances were removed along with everything attached to the cabinet boxes such as the cabinet doors, drawers, hinges, pulls, magnetic strikes, felt or rubber bumper pads, etc. The doors and drawers were taken to an off-site painting booth. During this first day, we also modified the island by removing the built-in wine rack.

Days 2– Since all the walls and the ceilings had been protected, our painters began preparing and priming the cabinets.  Prepping includes caulking, setting protruding or flush nails, filling nail holes, sanding wood surfaces, and cleaning thoroughly to remove dust or oils. Once the cabinets were prepped, the priming process began. Using a high-grade primer, every inch of the cabinets were primed.  This is the first (and perhaps most critical) step of creating a durable paint finish.

Day 3 – Now that the cabinets were clean, sanded, and beautifully-primed, the painters began the cabinet painting process.  Two coats of Kelly-Moore Dura-poxy paint in Acoustic White were applied to the thoroughly sanded and primed kitchen cabinets. This same priming and cabinet painting process was used on the new doors and drawers, which are painted off-site in a climate-controlled paint booth for the highest possible quality.

Day 4 –  The painters were back on site to paint the walls and ceiling. The walls and ceiling in the kitchen received a fresh coat of Kelly-Moore semi-gloss paint in Bone.

Day 5 – The transformation then hit the home stretch with the installation of the freshly-painted cabinet doors and drawers. Liberty 3-3/4″ Bar Pulls in bronze with copper highlights were installed on the freshly-painted cabinet doors and drawers, the homeowners appliances were installed and the entire project was cleaned.

• Cabinet Finish: Acoustic White using a high-quality Kelly-Moore Dura-Poxy paint and primer.
• Cabinet Hardware: Liberty 3-3/4″ Bar Pulls in Bronze with Copper highlights and matching cabinet hinges.
• Wall Paint: Kelly-Moore Semi-Gloss Bone
