The Homeowner’s bathCRATE Experience

What was your favorite part of the bathCRATE process?

My favorite part of the whole process was the use of your designer (I think her name was Lindsay). She was amazing and really helped us narrow down our choices. Honestly, She seemed to really know what we wanted just from spending a small amount of time with us. We are so happy with the design choices she helped us make!!! Everything came together so beautifully! In addition, another thing I really appreciated was the timeline that was sent to us regarding what day everything was going to happen. It was nice to look on the schedule and see exactly what was going to be accomplished on that day.

What was your favorite part about the bathCRATE team?

The bathCRATE Team were all great to work with!!! Everyone went out of their way to accommodate our wishes. Willy was great in the first stages with us being out of state and working with us on conference calls and scheduling our meetings on the weekends we were in town. Then as the job progressed…. the rest of the team never put up much of a fuss when we had them recenter a light plate on the wall or rehang a towel bar that was too low.

Was there anything about the process or project that surprised you? If so, what was it?

Nothing really surprised us. After doing research on the company and sitting down with Scott for a bit to discuss our needs and if bathCRATE would be a good fit for us the whole process was pretty much everything we expected it to be.

Modesto Bathroom Remodel Day by Day Progress

(Note: We added a few extra days to our normal 7-day process to accommodate the owner-request add-ons.)

Day 1 – Demo Day!  On this first day, we set up plastic walls to protect the home from dust, protected the path from the entry door to the bathroom with building paper, and then went to town removing the countertops, backsplash, vanity doors and drawers, and shower tile.  Toward the end of the day, we created the template for the new quartz countertops, which take a few days to fabricate off-site.

Day 2 –  The electrical team began the wiring for the new lighting while the new shower valve was installed at the shower.

Day 3 – The bathCRATE team was back on site to patch and repair the sheetrock.

Day 4 – All of the walls and ceiling in the bathroom were painted. Kelly-Moore Baby Barn Owl with a satin finish was applied to the walls and Kelly-Moore Swiss Coffee was applied to the ceiling.

Days 5, 6, & 7 –  The tile artisans were on site to install tile at the shower. Bedrosians Matrix Azul 12″ x 24″ porcelain tiles were installed on the shower walls with an accent strip of Bedrosians Kismet Destiny mosaic tiles and Bedrosians Officine Dark 2″ x 2″ mosaic tiles on the shower floor. The shower tile was grouted using Laticrete Sterling Silver grout.

Day 8 – The painters began preparing and priming the cabinets.  Using a high-grade, oil-based primer, every inch of the bathroom vanity cabinets were caulked, sanded and primed.  This is the first (and perhaps most critical) step of creating a durable paint finish. The painters then applied two coats of Kelly-Moore Dura-poxy paint in Hush Gray to the thoroughly sanded and primed vanity cabinets.  This same priming and painting process was used on the doors and drawers, which are painted off-site in a climate-controlled paint booth for the highest possible quality.

Day 9 –  The countertop installation team arrived to install the Kohler Archer sink in white, the MSI Fossil Gray quartz countertop with a mitered edge and the Bedrosians Kismet Destiny mosaic tiles on the backsplash.

Days 10 & 11 – The flooring experts arrived to install the Bedrosians Officine Dark 12″ x 24″ porcelain tiles. The flooring was grouted using Laticrete Sterling Silver grout.

Days 12 & 13 – The transformation hit the homestretch with the installation of the new freshly-painted cabinet doors and drawers, the Pfister Pasadena widespread faucets and shower fixture in Satin Nickel, mirrors, light fixtures, accessories and the new shower door. After the final items were installed the entire project was cleaned, top-to-bottom.
