Bathroom Day by Day Progress
(Note: We added a few extra days to our normal 7-day process to accommodate the owner-request add-ons.)
Day 1 – Demo Day! On this first day, we set up plastic walls to protect the home from dust, protected the path from the entry door to the bathroom with building paper, and then went to town removing the countertops, backsplash, doors and drawer faces, shower tile and tub surround. Toward the end of the day, we created the template for the new limestone countertops, which take a few days to fabricate off-site.
Days 2 & 3– The electrical team began the wiring for the new vanity lights, a new shower valve was installed and the plywood subtop was installed at the tub surround. The corner make-up counter was removed, and the tub deck was modified for the new limestone countertops and larger shower.
Day 4 – The bathCRATE team was back on site to patch and repair the sheetrock and the shower pan liner was installed.
Day 5 – All of the walls and ceiling in the bathroom were painted. Kelly-Moore Apple Hill was applied to the walls and Kelly Moore Frost was applied to the ceiling.
Days 6, 7, & 8 – The tile and countertop artisans were on site to install tile at the shower and tub surround. The MSI Canvas quartz was installed at the tub deck. Bedrosians Marfil Bianco 12″ x 24″ porcelain tiles with an accent strip of Bedrosians Kismet Meditate mosaic tiles were installed at the shower walls and tub surround, while the shower floor received Bedrosians Hemisphere Antigua sliced pebble mosaic tiles. The shower tile was grouted using Laticrete Latte grout.
Days 9 & 10 – The countertop installation team arrived to install the Bedrosians Lagos Azul limestone countertop with a mitered edge and the Bedrosians Kismet Meditate mosaic tiles on the backsplash.
Days 11 & 12 – The painters began preparing and priming the vanity cabinets. Using a high-grade, oil-based primer, every inch of the bathroom vanity cabinets were caulked, sanded and primed. This is the first (and perhaps most critical) step of creating a durable paint finish. The painters then applied two coats of Kelly-Moore Dura-poxy paint in Raw Sugar to the thoroughly sanded and primed vanity cabinets. This same priming and painting process was used on the doors and drawers, which are painted off-site in a climate-controlled paint booth for the highest possible quality.
Days 13 & 14 – The transformation hit the homestretch with the installation of the freshly painted cabinet doors and drawers, the Kohler Caxton sinks in white, the Pfister Pasadena widespread faucets, the Pasadena Roman tub faucet, and the Pasadena shower fixtures in brushed nickel, the mirrors, the accessories and the new frameless shower door. After the final items were installed the entire project was cleaned, top-to-bottom.
