Day by Day Bathroom Renovation Progress
(Note: We added a few extra days to our normal 7-day process to accommodate the owner-request add-ons.)
Day 1 – Day one of this bathroom renovation! On this first day, we set up plastic walls to protect the home from dust, protected the path from the entry door to the bathroom with building paper, and then went to town removing the countertops, backsplash, shower tile, and tub surround. Toward the end of the day we created the template for the new quartz countertops, which take a few days to fabricate off-site.
Days 2 & 3– The electrical team began the wiring for the new lighting and a new shower valve was installed.
Day 4 – The bathCRATE team was back on site to patch and repair the sheetrock and the shower pan liner was installed.
Day 5 – All of the walls and ceiling in the bathroom were painted. Kelly-Moore Afternoon Tea with a satin finish was applied to the walls and the ceiling was painted to match the existing color.
Days 6, 7, & 8 – The tile artisans were on site to install tile at the shower and tub surround. Bedrosians Traditions Iced White 4″ x 10″ gloss ceramic tiles with an accent of Bedrosians Kismet Zen mosaic tiles were installed at the shower walls and tub surround while the shower floor received Bedrosians Hemisphere Fatima Cream sliced pebble mosaic tiles. The shower tile was grouted using Laticrete Bright White grout.
Days 9 & 10 – The countertop installation team arrived to install the Bedrosians Sequel Boston Shores quartz tops with a mitered edge at the vanity and tub deck.
Days 11 & 12 – The painters began preparing and priming the vanity cabinets. Using a high-grade, oil-based primer, every inch of the bathroom vanity cabinets were caulked, sanded and primed. This is the first (and perhaps most critical) step of creating a durable paint finish. The painters then applied two coats of Kelly-Moore Dura-poxy paint in Swiss Coffee to the thoroughly sanded and primed vanity cabinets. This same priming and painting process was used on the doors and drawers, which are painted off-site in a climate-controlled paint booth for the highest possible quality.
Days 13 & 14 – The transformation hit the homestretch with the installation of the freshly painted cabinet doors and drawers, the Kohler Archer sinks in white, the Kohler Memoirs widespread faucets, tub faucet, and shower fixtures, all with a brushed nickel finish and the Kohler Highline toilet. The mirrors, accessories and new frameless shower door were installed and the bathroom was cleaned of all construction debris and dust.
