The Homeowner’s Experience With This Bathroom Remodel, Ripon
What was your favorite part of the bathCRATE process?
Our favorite part in the bathCRATE process was the design meeting. It was great to have an interior designer at our disposal to guide us and open our minds up to flooring, tile and color choices that we may not consider ourselves.
What was your favorite part about the bathCRATE team?
The PROFESSIONALISM! Every member of the bathCRATE team conducted themselves in the most professional manner and ensured that everything they did was perfect, and at the end of every day the space was clean and ready for the next person.
Was there anything about the process or project that surprised you? If so, what was it?
How Jared and his team stood by the timeline that was presented at the beginning of the project. We could follow right along and see what was going to be done on any certain day.

Bathroom Remodel Timeline
(Note: We added a few extra days to our normal 7-day process to accommodate the owner-requested add-ons.)
Here’s how we did it:
Day 1 – Demo Day! On this first day, we set up plastic walls to protect the home from dust, protected the path from the entry door to the bathroom with building paper, and then went to town removing the countertops, backsplash, vanity doors and drawers, shower tile, the tub, and flooring. Toward the end of the day, we created the template for the new quartz countertops, which take a few days to fabricate off-site.
Day 2– The electrical team began the wiring for the additional light at the exhaust fan and the plumbing was moved to accommodate the new shower location.
Day 3 – The bathCRATE team was on site to sheetrock the window opening where the soaking tub had been removed.
Days 4, 5 & 6 – The tile artisans were on site to install tile at the shower. Bedrosians Rome Antique 12″ x 24″ tiles with an accent strip of Bedrosians Rome Antique 2″ x 2″ mosaic tiles were installed on the shower walls and Bedrosians Rome Antique 2″ x 2″ mosaic tiles on the shower floor. The shower was grouted using Laticrete Hemp grout.
Day 7 – Since all the walls and the ceilings had been protected, our painters began preparing and priming the cabinets. Using a high-grade, oil-based primer, every inch of the bathroom vanity cabinets were caulked, sanded and primed. This is the first (and perhaps most critical) step of creating a durable paint finish.
Day 8 – The painters then applied two coats of Kelly-Moore Dura-poxy paint in Parisian Cashmere to the thoroughly sanded and primed vanity cabinets. This same priming and painting process was used on the doors and drawers, which are painted off-site in a climate-controlled paint booth for the highest possible quality. Kelly-Moore Greige was also applied to the walls.
Day 9 – The bathCRATE team installed the beautiful Kohler Caxton sinks. Once the sinks were installed, the countertop installation team arrived to install the MSI Lagos Azul quartz countertops with a mitered edge.
Days 10, 11- 12– The flooring experts arrived to install the Bedrosians Prestige Walnut 6″ x 24″ porcelain floor tiles. The flooring was grouted using Laticrete Espresso grout.
Day 13 – The transformation hit the homestretch with the installation of the plumbing fixtures, mirrors, light fixtures, and accessories. The Pfister Iyla faucets were installed at the sinks and the shower received a Pfister Iyla shower set, each with brushed nickel finishes. The final day of the project also included an array of “touch-up” items: all outlets and switches were replaced, the Kohler Highline toilet was set, the shower door was installed and the entire project was cleaned, top-to-bottom.
