Ceres Kitchen Remodel: From Dated to Delightful on Mauna Kea Drive
Cabinets: Classic Shaker Style Meets Practical Storage
The foundation of this remodel started with the cabinetry. The team removed the existing cabinets and replaced them with custom-built Shaker-style cabinets featuring 45° beveled inside edges. Constructed from paint-grade maple, these cabinets were both durable and elegant.
Highlights include:
- Soft-close Blum hinges and drawer glides for a smooth, quiet experience
- Satin Nickel hardware from Amerock’s Blackrock collection for a touch of modern luxury
- New cabinet configuration to open up the space, making it brighter and more functional.
These new cabinets not only refreshed the kitchen’s look but also dramatically improved functionality.
Countertops: Sleek Quartz with Timeless Appeal
The new countertops are crafted from Calacatta Milan Quartz by Bedrosians. Known for its durability and elegant veining, this quartz surface offered the perfect blend of performance and style.
Key features include:
- 2 cm thick slab with a 2” mitered edge for a substantial, clean-lined appearance
- Polished finish that reflects light and brightens the space
- Matching quartz window sill, adding cohesion and a custom touch
This high-performance material brings sophistication and ease of maintenance to daily meal prep.
Sink & Fixtures: Functional and Stylish
The sink area underwent a complete transformation with the installation of a Blanco Diamond Super Single Bowl undermount sink in White. This large, durable sink is known for resisting stains, scratches, and heat.
Additional upgrades include:
- Kohler Simplice faucet in Vibrant Stainless
- A centered InSinkErator Badger 5 disposal for efficient cleanup
Together, these fixtures offer the perfect combination of performance and beauty in a high-traffic zone.
Backsplash Tile: A Neutral Yet Eye-Catching Focal Point
Tile plays a crucial role in tying together the aesthetic of any kitchen. In this remodel, the homeowners selected Celine in White Gloss from Bedrosians.
Details include:
- Installed in a 1/2 offset horizontal pattern for a subtle sense of movement
- Grouted with TEC 931 Standard White, complementing both the tile and cabinetry tones
The backsplash adds to the timeless clean-feel of the kitchen.
Lighting & Electrical: Thoughtfully Upgraded
Lighting plays a vital role in how a kitchen feels—and this one is now brighter and more inviting than ever. The remodel included:
- A new recessed wafer LED light in Daylight Glow (4000K) at the sink
- Two new pendant lights added above the peninsula
- Under-cabinet lighting at the same 4000K color temperature for consistent task illumination
- Updated white Decora outlets and switches for a crisp, modern finish
The lighting ensures the kitchen functions well in every condition—from early morning breakfast prep to late-night cleanups.
Paint: Soft Neutrals That Let the Materials Shine
To complement the cabinetry, tile, and countertops, a soft, neutral paint palette was selected:
- Cabinets: Sherwin-Williams SW 7638 Jogging Path
- Walls: Sherwin-Williams SW 7050 Useful Gray
- Ceiling, Baseboards, & Trims: Sherwin-Williams SW 7551 Greek Villa
This coordinated palette keeps the space feeling open, clean, and timeless while allowing the textures and finishes to take center stage.
