Modesto Kitchen Remodel: A Truly Custom Kitchen
When these Modesto, CA homeowners decided it was time to transform their outdated kitchen, they called in the local experts at kitchen & bath CRATE. Their home on Beyer Park Drive had great bones but was showing its age, dark oak cabinetry, dated tile, and a layout that didn’t make the most of the space. The CRATE team stepped in with their signature design-build process, updating every surface for a fresh, cohesive, and functional new look.
This Modesto kitchen remodel is a perfect example of how modern materials, careful craftsmanship, and thoughtful details can breathe new life into a familiar space. Let’s take a closer look at each aspect of this beautiful transformation.

Cabinetry: A Modern Update with Custom Functionality
The homeowners’ original red-oak cabinets were solid and well built, but they needed an update in both look and functionality. Rather than completely replacing them, the kitchen & bath CRATE team refinished and modified the existing cabinetry, blending smart upgrades with sustainability in mind.
The original solid red-oak cabinet frames were refreshed and paired with stylish new hardware from Amerock. The homeowners selected the Westerly Collection 1-3/16″ Knob in Champagne Bronze,a sleek, modern accent that instantly added warmth and sophistication.
To improve functionality, the CRATE craftsmen added a custom peninsula cabinet with a built-in trash pull-out, providing hidden storage that keeps the kitchen clean and clutter-free. All drawers were upgraded to Falton soft-close glides, ensuring a smooth, quiet close every time. Even the crown molding received an elegant refresh, tying the cabinetry together with crisp, uniform lines.
The result is a blend of classic oak texture and modern hardware that honors the home’s original character while feeling completely new.
Countertops: Natural Stone Luxury with Vitoria Luxe Quartzite
The countertops are the true centerpiece of this Modesto kitchen remodel. The homeowners chose Vitoria Luxe Quartzite by Bedrosians — a stunning natural stone featuring soft veining and organic movement that captures light beautifully. The quartzite was installed in a polished finish with a mitered eased edge and a 2 cm thickness for a refined, modern appearance.
A 4″ slab backsplash of the same quartzite continues seamlessly up the wall behind the range, offering both durability and continuity of design. The CRATE team added a 12″ countertop cantilever toward the living room, supported by hidden steel brackets — perfect for casual dining or morning coffee.
The craftsmanship and precision of the templating and installation showcase why quartzite remains one of the most sought-after materials for high-end kitchen remodels. It’s not only gorgeous but also heat- and scratch-resistant — ideal for daily use.
Sinks & Fixtures: Elegant Champagne Bronze Accents
In keeping with the theme of functionality meets elegance, the homeowners selected a combination of high-performance fixtures that elevate both the look and feel of the kitchen.
The centerpiece is the Blanco Diamond Super Single Bowl Sink in Truffle, a spacious 9½-inch-deep sink made from Blanco’s patented Silgranit material. Its neutral truffle hue harmonizes perfectly with the quartzite counters and warm oak tones.
Complementing the sink is the Delta Trinsic Single-Handle Pull-Down Kitchen Faucet in Champagne Bronze, a finish that ties back to the Amerock hardware. The faucet’s sleek cylindrical design adds a minimalist edge to the space, while its reliable touch-clean spray holes and 360-degree swivel provide maximum usability.
To complete the sink area, the CRATE team installed a matching Delta Trinsic Soap Dispenser in Champagne Bronze and an InSinkErator Badger 5 ½ HP Compact Disposal, ensuring that form meets function at every corner of the kitchen.
Tile & Flooring: Subtle Contrast, Beautiful Texture
Few design decisions define a remodel more than tile selection — and in this kitchen, it’s all about timeless simplicity with a touch of modern flair.
Backsplash
The backsplash features Celine White Gloss Tile (2½″ × 12″) by Bedrosians, installed in a horizontal layout with a ½-offset. The bright-white tile, paired with Laticrete Grout Color 44 in Bright White, gives the kitchen an airy, reflective surface that balances the richness of the quartzite and cabinetry. It’s clean, classic, and effortlessly elegant, proving that simplicity often delivers the biggest impact.
Flooring
Underfoot, the space features Thadeus 24″ × 48″ Porcelain Tile in Taupe by Bedrosians, a large-format tile that visually expands the room. The subtle taupe tone complements the countertop’s natural hues, while Laticrete Grout Color 24 in Natural Gray adds soft definition between tiles. Installed parallel to the wood flooring in the adjacent living room, the layout achieves a seamless visual transition throughout the open-concept space.
The tile’s 9 mm thickness and sealed surface ensure durability and easy maintenance — ideal for a high-traffic kitchen that’s built to last.
Paint & Finishes: Warm Neutrals Meet Timeless Design
The paint palette for this Modesto kitchen remodel strikes a beautiful balance between warmth and modern neutrality, creating an inviting backdrop for daily life.
- Walls (Kitchen, Living Room, Laundry Room): Sherwin-Williams SW 7029 Agreeable Gray
- Accent Wall Above Fireplace: Sherwin-Williams SW 9126 Honed Soapstone
- Ceilings, Trim & Baseboards: Kelly-Moore KM23 Swiss Coffee
The combination of these soft, earthy neutrals perfectly complements the Champagne Bronze hardware and truffle-colored sink, while also reflecting natural light from the adjoining living area. The walls were finished in a smooth eggshell sheen, with semi-gloss on trim for subtle contrast and durability.
The cabinet stain, Sherwin-Williams SB036 Antique Barrel, preserves the natural oak grain while introducing a modern richness that ties the entire design together.
Lighting & Electrical: Modern Efficiency with Bright Comfort
While the lighting upgrades in this project were minimal, the difference in ambience is dramatic. The team added a daylight-glow 4000 K recessed wafer light in the adjacent laundry area, ensuring a consistent and bright illumination that flows naturally from one space to the next.
Electrical updates included fresh white Decora switches and outlets, adding a clean, streamlined look that fits perfectly with the new backsplash and wall colors.
