What is Houzz.com and How to Get Started
Unlike the days where you needed to attend showrooms and buy a pile of magazines to get ideas about your home improvement project, there are many websites that can provide you with the specific information you need (ideas, products, how-to-videos, etc.) without you having to leave your home. One such website is Houzz.com, and below you will find a brief overview of this website and steps to sign up so you can get started preparing for your home improvement project.
In short, Houzz is a website that provides you with information for your remodeling project. The website contains an endless amount of project photos that are searchable by style, location, room, etc. You can also use the site to find local professionals (interior designers, construction teams – including us!) as well as view their work and reviews. There is a section to review discussions and helpful guides. Last, but not least, there is shopping! You can find the products via photos or search through their large network of products through category searches. (Side note: Houzz is having a Memorial Day Sale this weekend.)
Let’s get started!
1. First, Visit houzz.com.
2. Set-up a Login.
Why do you need a login? Houzz is a website with a sophisticated algorithm that can find images, products and other information that is specific to your interests. In order to receive the information you’re looking for without the work, a login is necessary so Houzz can find out your preferences and have a way to store information for you.
The two different ways to create an account on Houzz are by either using your email or your Facebook account. To get started, you can click the “Get Started” button on the middle of the page, the top right button on the browser that says “Sign in”, or by clicking the “Sign-up with Email” or “Login with Facebook” buttons that appear on the page right when you land on it.
3. Let Houzz Know Your Preferences
As mentioned earlier, Houzz can customize the information you receive based on your interests. Once you create a login, it will ask you the topics you’re interested in. (There’s a button for kitchen and bath remodeling!)
4. You’re Ready to Go!
After you let Houzz know your preferences, it will customize the items you will receive on your account. From there, you can start exploring! Yes, it’s really that simple! You can take a look at different photos, shop for products, create an inspiration board (we’ll talk more about that later). The more you research, the more confident you will be with your decisions when you start your next home improvement project.
We Saved the Best for Last!
The best page on Houzz is our kitchen & bath CRATE page! We have 178 projects posted (and more every week) so you can see the transformations we’ve done in local kitchens and bathrooms. Like a photo or product? Be sure to pin it to your inspiration board so we can review together at our meeting.
