After bC Heidi Ave. 01

This 1966 hall bathroom went from cold and enclosed to warm and open in just over 2 weeks! Removing the wall, box light, and updating the shower to a walk-in shower gives this bath renovation an updated and modern look.

This bathroom renovation in Modesto features new granite countertops, a Kohler Reve vessel sink, Bedrosians Simply Modern Tan porcelain tiles, and so much more!

But don’t just take our word on how well this job turned out.  Look below for the customer testimonial, project specifications and extensive before and after pictures!

The Homeowner’s bathCRATE Experience

What was your favorite part of the bathCRATE process?

I think the most favorite part of the whole process was working with Willy and then the design woman.

What was your favorite part about the bathCRATE team?

Ryan was the person on your team we had the most contact with. He knew what needed to be done, let us know what was happening, and did a good job.

Bathroom Renovation Timeline

(Note: We added a few extra days to our normal 7-day process to accommodate the owner-request add-ons.)

Day 1 – Demo Day!  On this first day, we set up plastic walls to protect the home from dust, protected the path from the entry door to the bathroom with building paper, and then went to town removing the countertops, backsplash, doors and drawer faces, bathtub, shower tile, flooring and the wall separating the vanity from the shower area.  Toward the end of the day, we created the template for the new granite countertops, which take a few days to fabricate off-site.

Day 2 –  The electrical team began the wiring for the new pendant lights. The shower plumbing was modified to accommodate the new shower only design and a new shower valve was installed.

Days 3 & 4 – The bathCRATE team was back on site to patch and repair the sheetrock and the shower pan liner was installed.

Day 5 – All of the walls and ceiling in the bathroom were painted. Kelly-Moore Oyster Haze with a satin finish was applied to the walls and ceiling.

Days 6, 7, & 8 –  The tile artisans were on site to install tile at the shower.  Bedrosians Simply Modern Tan 12″ x 24″ porcelain tiles were installed at the shower walls with an accent strip of Bedrosians Elume Boardwalk glass slate blend mosaic tiles and the shower floor received Bedrosians Simply Modern Tan 2″ x 2″ tiles. The shower tile was grouted using Laticrete Marble Beige grout.

Day 9 – The painters began preparing and priming the vanity cabinets.  Using a high-grade, oil-based primer, every inch of the bathroom vanity cabinets were caulked, sanded and primed.  This is the first (and perhaps most critical) step of creating a durable paint finish. The painters then applied two coats of Kelly-Moore Dura-poxy paint in City Loft to the thoroughly sanded and primed vanity cabinets.  This same priming and painting process was used on the doors and drawers, which are painted off-site in a climate-controlled paint booth for the highest possible quality.

Days 10 & 11 – The countertop installation team arrived to install the granite countertop with a mitered edge and the granite backsplash.

Days 12 & 13 – The flooring experts arrived to install the Bedrosians Bayou Country Wood Taupe 8″ x 24″ porcelain tiles. The flooring was grouted using Laticrete Hot Cocoa grout.

Day 14 – The transformation hit the homestretch with the installation of the freshly painted cabinet doors and drawers, the Kohler Reve vessel sinks in white, the Pfister Contempra faucet and shower fixtures in chrome, the mirror, the accessories, and the new shower panel. After the final items were installed the entire project was cleaned, top-to-bottom.
