bathroom remodel in Modesto.

Today we share the first of two bathCRATE projects completed in this beautiful 1985 custom Modesto home! This is their master bathroom.

What makes this bathCRATE special?  The biggest change was the conversion of the old, rarely-used soaking tub area into a custom make-up counter designed specifically for the homeowner.  What used to be wasted space is now a delightful spot filled with natural light and all beauty products in one easily-accessible area.

In addition to this custom feature, this bathroom transitioned from dated 1980’s finishes to sleek, cool modern materials.

But don’t just take our word for it!  Scroll down for all the before and after bathroom remodel pictures and learn more about the project specifications!

The Before & After Pictures

Day by Day Progress

(Note: We added a few extra days to our normal 7-day process to accommodate the owner-requested add-ons.)

Here’s how we did it:

Days 1 & 2 – Demo Days!  On this first day, we set up plastic walls to protect the home from dust, protected the path from the entry door to the bathroom with building paper, and then went to town removing the countertops, backsplash, shower tile, bathtub surround tile, bathtub, and flooring.  Toward the end of the day, we created the template for the new quartz countertops, which take a few days to fabricate off-site.

Day 3 – The shower valve was installed and the walls and ceiling were painted.  Kelly-Moore Rediscover, with a semi-gloss finish, was applied to the walls and Feather White was applied to the ceiling.

Day 4 – The tile artisans were on site to install the Bedrosians Athena Pearl 12″ x 24″ tiles with an accent of Bedrosians Kismet Destiny tiles on the shower walls and Bedrosians Athena Sand 2″ x 2″ tiles on the shower floor. This was grouted using Bostick Misty Gray grout.

Day 5 – The custom make-up cabinets were installed.

Day 6 – The countertop installation team arrived to install the Kohler Caxton sinks in white and the beautiful MSI Shadow Gray quartz countertops with a mitered edge.

Day 7 –  The tile artisans were back on site to install the Bedrosians Kismet Destiny Rhomboid blended mosaic tiles on the backsplash. This was grouted using Bostick Misty Gray grout.

Days 8 – 10 – Once again the tile artisans were on site, this time to install the Bedrosians Metro Plus Manhattan Mist 12″ x 24″ floor tiles. The floor tiles were grouted using Bostic Delorean Gray grout.

Day 11 – The transformation hit the homestretch with the installation of the plumbing fixtures, light fixtures, and accessories.  The Pfister Avalon widespread faucets in brushed nickel were installed at the sinks and a Pfister Avalon handheld shower and trim were installed in the shower. The final day of the project also included an array of “touch-up” items: all outlets and switches were replaced, the shower door was installed and the entire project was cleaned, top-to-bottom.
