bathCRATE Eilers Lane, Lodi, CA

One of our biggest joys at bathCRATE is working on a home recently purchased by a customer.  Having a chance to make a home perfect for the client before they move in gives us a great feeling of accomplishment.

Such was the case on the bathCRATE Eilers Lane in Lodi.  This 1987 home had two very dated bathrooms before we started work: tile countertops and surrounds, dark oak vanities, old plumbing fixtures, and no flooring.  In just a few weeks these items were replaced with clean, contemporary finishes and ready for this young family to enjoy for years to come.

The Homeowner’s Experience

What was your favorite part of the bathCRATE process?

Our favorite part of both the kitchenCRATE and bathCRATE was the fact that it was so easy. From the meetings to the design phase and construction. Everything was taken care of for us both by the entire crew from Scott and Jared all the way down to their workers. We would strongly recommend them to anyone who’s in the market for or are entertaining the thought of a remodel.

Day by Day Progress

(Note: We added extra days to our normal 7-day process to accommodate the owner-requested add-ons and an additional bathroom.)

Here’s how we did it:

Day 1 –On this first day, we set up plastic walls to protect the home from dust, protected the path from the entry door to the bathroom with building paper, and then went to town removing the countertop, backsplash, plumbing fixtures, cabinet doors, and drawers in both bathrooms.

Days 2 & 3 – The bathCRATE team began the wiring for the new  lighting, repaired the plywood subtop and drywall in both bathrooms. Toward the end of the day we created the template for the new quartz countertops, which take a few days to fabricate off-site.

Day 4 – The bathCRATE team replaced the greenboard and shower valves in the bathrooms and installed the new Kohler Bellwether tub in white in the hall bathroom.

Day 5 – Since all the walls and the ceilings had been protected, our painters began preparing and priming the cabinets.  Using a high-grade, oil-based primer, every inch of the cabinets were caulked, sanded and primed.  This is the first (and perhaps most critical) step of creating a durable paint finish.

Days 6 & 7 – The painters then applied two coats of Kelly-Moore Dura-poxy paint in Sheepskin Gloves to the thoroughly sanded and primed cabinets in each bathroom.  This same priming and painting process was used on the doors and drawers, which are painted off-site in a climate-controlled paint booth for the highest possible quality.

Day 8 & 9 – The countertop installation team arrived to install the sinks and countertops. New Kohler Caxton undermount sinks in white and MSI Almond Roca quartz countertops with a mitered edge were installed in each of the bathrooms.

Days 10 & 11 – The tile artisians were on site to install the Bedrosians Runway Sand Polished 12 x 24 tiles with Laticrete Antique White grout in the hall bathroom shower. The master shower received Bedrosians Fantasia Pecan 20 X 20 tiles with an accent of Bedrosians Glass Manhatten Midtown random interlocking tiles and Bedrosians Fantasia Pecan 2 X 2 tiles on the shower floor.

Day 12 – Liberty 1-1/4″ Sophia knobs and Liberty 2-1/2″ cup pulls, each with a Satin Nickel finish were installed on the doors and drawer of each bathroom.

Days 13 & 14 – The plumbing fixtures were installed.  Pfister Avalon widespread faucets with a  brushed nickel finish were installed in both bathrooms. In the hall bathroom beautiful new Pfister Avalon Tub and shower fixtures with a brushed nickel finish were while the master shower received beautiful new Pfister Avalon Shower fixtures.  The final day of the project also included an array of “touch-up” items: the Kohler Highline toilets, lights, fan, mirrors, and shower doors were installed and the entire project was cleaned, top-to-bottom.
