Lodi, CA is home to this 13-year-old kitchen renovation featuring creamy-white cabinets transformed by our kichenCRATE Refinish team, custom-fabricated Giallo Santo granite tops, and sleek Arizona Tile Skylight glass backsplash.

After less than two weeks of construction, this family was able to cook and entertain in their brand new kitchen.  Minimal hassle, expert execution, and an amazing result.  It’s that simple.

What was your favorite part of the kitchenCRATE process?

It is hard to choose just one part of the kitchenCRATE process as our favorite. The whole experience was so amazing and so is the finished product. We were really impressed with the promptness, honesty, sincerity, and the precise timeline that was provided and adhered to in order to complete the project.

Was there anything about the process or project that surprised you? If so, what was it?

I was honestly surprised with the fact that the date for the project completion was totally on target! I was fully expecting completion to take a couple days extra, but the date provided was spot on. I want to thank you for such an amazing kitchen!! I really love it! I can’t wait to save some money so I can have you do a remodel on my master bath!  I give a recommendation for kitchenCRATE to anyone I know that is contemplating a kitchen remodel.

Kitchen Remodel Timeline

(Note: We added a few extra days to our normal 7-day process to accommodate the owner-request add-ons and to complete work in two additional bathrooms.)

Here’s how we completed this kitchen remodel in Lodi, CA:

Day 1 – Demo Day!  On this first day, we set up plastic walls to protect the home from dust, protected the path from the entry door to the kitchen with building paper, and then went to town removing the appliances, countertop, backsplash, plumbing fixtures, cabinet doors and drawers, and the flooring. We also removed the outdated light box in order to make room for the new LED can lighting. We reinforced the plywood sub-tops with steel straps to support the new granite countertops. Toward the end of the day, we created the template for the new granite countertops, which take a few days to fabricate off-site.

Day 2 – The electrical team began the wiring for the new LED recessed lighting and undercabinet LED lights.  Five six inch LED can lights were placed strategically around the kitchen to optimize the lighting over work spaces. These lights are installed to maximize light levels for the most common countertop uses.

Day 3 – Next, we used metal-stud framing to sheetrock the old lightbox and then hung and taped the sheetrock.

Day 4 – Since all the walls and the ceilings had been protected, our painters began preparing and priming the cabinets in the kitchen.  Using a high-grade, oil-based primer, every inch of the kitchen cabinets were caulked, sanded and primed.  This is the first (and perhaps most critical) step of creating a durable paint finish.

Day 5 – The painters then began refinishing the kitchen cabinets in this Lodi home. Two coats of Kelly-Moore Dura-poxy paint in Bud’s Sail were applied to the thoroughly sanded and primed cabinets.  This same priming and painting process was used on the new doors and drawers, which are painted off-site in a climate-controlled paint booth for the highest possible quality.

Day 6 – The countertop installation team arrived to install the beautiful Blanco Performa Double Equal Bowl Silgranit sink in Truffle and the Arizona Tile Giallo Santo granite countertops with a beveled edge.

Day 7 – The tile backsplash artisans installed the Arizona Tile Skylight Glass 3″ x 6″ staggered tiles on the backsplash. The tile backsplash was grouted with Laticrete Buttercream grout.

Day 8 – The painting team was back on site to paint the walls and ceiling. Kelly-Moore Graystone was applied to the walls.

Day 9 –  Lastly, the kitchenCRATE team installed the homeowner’s appliances.  The transformation then hit the home stretch with the installation of the freshly-painted cabinet doors and drawers. The final day of the project included an array of “touch-up” items: all outlets and switches were replaced, the Kohler Simplice faucet and Kohler Transitional soap dispenser, each with a vibrant stainless finish, were installed and the entire project was cleaned, top-to-bottom.
