The Homeowner’s Kitchen Remodel Ripon Experience

What was your favorite part of the kitchenCRATE process?

Hands down, kitchenCRATE was the most organized and efficient company we have worked with. After the initial computer inquiry, the timeline was incredible. Everyone at every level of this organization was professional, helpful and followed through. KitchenCRATE honored all timelines and nothing, at any point, became an extra responsibility or hassle for us.

What was your favorite part about the kitchenCRATE team?

The entire team from the tile setter to the company owner was incredibly helpful, highly accessible, knowledgeable and followed through. As homeowners who have remodeled a kitchen in the past, we are aware that this is not always the case. Each member of the kitchenCRATE team appeared to enjoy working for this company and their pride of workmanship was evident. Our kitchen is gorgeous and exactly what we wanted!

Was there anything about the process or project that surprised you? If so, what was it?

The customer service and efficiency were both surprising. The team answered every question pleasantly, met every request and honored all timelines. KitchenCRATE exceeded our expectations and we will happily recommend them to anyone in need of kitchen or bathroom remodeling.

Day by Day Progress

Check out how our CRATE team completed this kitchen remodel in Ripon in such a short time!

Day 1 – Demo Day!  On this first day, we set up plastic walls to protect the home from dust, protected the path from the entry door to the kitchen with building paper, and then went to town removing the appliances, countertop, backsplash, plumbing fixtures, cabinet doors, and drawers.  To support the cantilever countertop, we reinforced the plywood sub-tops with steel straps.  Toward the end of the day we created the template for the new quartz countertops, which take a few days to fabricate off-site.

Day 2 – The electrical team began the wiring for the new can lighting.  Five 6″ LED can lights were placed strategically around the kitchen to optimize the lighting over workspaces. At the same time, the kitchenCRATE team modified the cabinets above the range to raise the microwave in order to create more workspace at the new range.

Day 3 – Next, we used metal-stud framing to sheetrock the old lightbox and then hung and taped the sheetrock to gain an extra day of dry time.

Day 4 – Since all the walls and the ceilings had been protected, our painters began preparing and priming the cabinets.  Using a high-grade, oil-based primer, every inch of the kitchen cabinets were caulked, sanded and primed.  This is the first (and perhaps most critical) step of creating a durable paint finish.

Day 5 – The painters then applied two coats of Kelly-Moore Dura-poxy paint to the thoroughly sanded and primed cabinets.  This same priming and painting process was used on the doors and drawers, which are painted off-site in a climate-controlled paint booth for the highest possible quality.

Day 6 – The countertop installation team arrived to install the beautiful Kohler Vault Single Bowl Stainless Steel sink and the MSI Alpine Gray quartz countertops with a mitered edge.

Day 7 – The tile backsplash artisans began installing the Daltile Urban Putty  3″ x 6″ matte tiles with an accent strip of Bedrosians Manhattan Battery Park random interlocking glass and stone blend tiles on the backsplash. This was grouted using  Laticrete Antique White grout.

Day 8 – The kitchenCRATE team was onsite to paint the walls and ceiling paint.

Days 9, 10, & 11 – The floor tile artisans installed Bedrosians 6″ x 24″ Prestige Collection Planking Porcelain Walnut tiles on the floor throughout the kitchen.

Day12 –  Lastly, the kitchenCRATE team installed the homeowner’s new appliances.  The transformation then hit the home stretch with the installation of the freshly-painted cabinet doors and drawers. The final day of the project included an array of “touch-up” items: all outlets and switches were replaced, the Kohler Ballera faucet and Traditional Design Soap Dispenser each with a Vibrant Stainless finish were installed and the entire project was cleaned, top-to-bottom.
