Today the CRATE team is proud to present a recently-completed kitchenCRATE Classic in Manteca, CA!

The Arizona Tile Blizzard granite is certainly the focal point of this design, as it’s the black base color with white and grey veining compliments the smooth, white cabinets perfectly! And when matched with the high-gloss, 4×12 backsplash and a linear accent strip this project becomes even more of a contrast to the original design.

But don’t just take our word on how well this Manteca kitchen remodel turned out.  Look below for the customer testimonial, project specifications and extensive before and after pictures!

The Homeowner’s Manteca Kitchen Remodel Experience

What was your favorite part of the kitchenCRATE process?

The process itself was just so EASY. It’s clear that kitchenCRATE knows the business of remodeling kitchens, and you have an efficient, thorough process through which to guide customers so that nothing gets missed. Watching the teams work together – from sales to punch list – I had confidence in the process because it was so organized. Overall though, I have to say my favorite part was that it was done so quickly. Family life with young kids is crazy enough without worrying about where I’m going to wash the dishes.  Knowing that the kitchen would be done in eight days was incredibly valuable to me. And of course – it was finished on time!

What was your favorite part about the kitchenCRATE team?

Oh my. So many good things to say about your team. The biggest comment I have made to others, however, has been your “On Time, Every Time” tag line. For me, that phrase isn’t about having the entire project complete. As I went through the process, the “On Time, Every Time” meant when I looked out the window at 7:25 am, the trucks were in front of the house, crate opened, getting ready to start. Most homeowners have played the “waiting” game, with a 2-4 hour window in which a contractor may or may not show up… so frustrating! Your teams, from start to finish, were there when they said they would be. On Time. Every Time. Every Day. That was impressive – my time is valuable, and you treated it as such.

Also, you have a whole team of men who know how to clean up after themselves!!! Oh my goodness! It was wonderful! Each night, my kitchen was swept, counters cleared, tools put away in the crate – not my house. That was fantastic. I have cleaned up many times after electricians, cable guys or other servicemen let insulation and drywall dust fly everywhere, and the dirt tracked in and out can be enormous. Your crews were respectful to stay on the matting they had laid, and it was great to have my husband walk in to look each evening and have it neat and tidy (not to mention he didn’t track dirt and drywall through the rest of the house after walking around).

Every one of your crew was helpful but not overly friendly (in the “don’t you have work to do?” kind of way). They did their work and didn’t blast radios, use foul language or speak inappropriately. They were patient with my questions and responsive, whether via text, call or in person. Of all the comments I’ve made to friends and family, it is by far your PEOPLE who make the difference. There is a level of professionalism that you have achieved that is lacking in the general industry, and I can’t emphasize that enough when telling others about kitchenCRATE.

Was there anything about the process or project that surprised you? If so, what was it?

I can’t say I was “surprised” by anything, though I do ask a lot of questions! I enjoyed working with kitchenCRATE a lot. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking to use your type of services.

Day by Day Remodeling Progress

(Note: We added an extra day to our normal 7-day process to accommodate the owner-request add-ons, like these.)

Here’s how we did it:

Day 1 – Demo Day!  On this first day, we set up plastic walls to protect the home from dust, protected the path from the entry door to the kitchen with building paper, and then went to town removing the appliances, countertop, backsplash, plumbing fixtures, and cabinet doors and drawers. We reinforced the plywood sub-tops with steel straps to support the new granite countertops. Toward the end of the day, we created the template for the new countertops, which take a few days to fabricate off-site.

Day 2 – The electrical team began the wiring for the new LED recessed lighting and the new LED under cabinet lighting.  Six 6 inch LED can lights were placed strategically around the kitchen to optimize the lighting over work spaces. These lights are installed to maximize light levels for the most common countertop uses.

Day 3 – Next, we used metal-stud framing to sheetrock the old lightbox and then hung and taped the sheetrock.

Day 4 – Since all the walls and the ceilings had been protected, our painters began preparing and priming the cabinets in the kitchen.  Using a high-grade, oil-based primer, every inch of the kitchen cabinets were caulked, sanded and primed.  This is the first (and perhaps most critical) step of creating a durable paint finish.

Day 5 – The painters then began refinishing the kitchen cabinets in this Manteca home. Two coats of Kelly-Moore Dura-poxy paint in Apollo Landing were applied to the thoroughly sanded and primed cabinets in the kitchen.  This same priming and painting process was used on the doors and drawers, which are painted off-site in a climate-controlled paint booth for the highest possible quality. Kelly-Moore Apollo Landing was also applied to the ceiling and the kitchen wall received a new coat of Friendly Yellow paint.

Day 6 – The kitchenCRATE team was on site again to install the beautiful Blanco Diamond double bowl sink in white. Once the sink was installed, the countertop installation team arrived to install the Arizona Tile Blizzard granite countertops with a beveled edge.

Day 7 – The tile backsplash artisans were on site to install the Bedrosians Grace Sabbia 4″ x 12″ glossy ceramic tiles with an accent strip of Arizona Tile Soho Silver glass and stone stacked tiles on the backsplash. This was grouted using Laticrete Sterling Silver grout.

Day 8 –  Lastly, the kitchenCRATE team installed the homeowner’s new appliances.  The transformation then hit the home stretch with the installation of the freshly-painted cabinet doors and drawers. The final day of the project included an array of “touch-up” items: all outlets and switches were replaced, the faucet was installed and the entire project was cleaned, top-to-bottom.
