A few weeks back we shared the first of three bathCRATE projects on this 1985 North Modesto home.  Today we’ll introduce the amazing results for the guest bathroom!

We think you’ll agree the transformation is dramatic, including a new quartz vanity top with coordinating tile backsplash, a frameless shower enclosure and a redesigned tub area perfect for long, luxurious, relaxing baths.

Day by Day Guest Bathroom Remodel Progress

(Note: We added a few extra days to our normal 7-day process to accommodate the owner-requested add-ons.)

Here’s how we did it:

Day 1 – Demo Days!  On this first day, we set up plastic walls to protect the home from dust, protected the path from the entry door to the bathroom with building paper, and then went to town removing the countertops, backsplash, shower tile, bathtub surround tile, bathtub and flooring.  Toward the end of the day we created the template for the new quartz countertops, which take a few days to fabricate off-site.

Day 2 – A new custom tub deck was built and installed for the new soaking tub.

Day 3 – The shower valve was installed and the plumbing was moved for to accommodate the new soaking tub. The walls and ceiling were also painted. Kelly-Moore Frankly Earnest, with a semi-gloss finish, was applied to the walls and Acoustic White was applied to the ceiling.

Days 4 & 5 – The tile artisans were on site to install the Bedrosians Chocolate 12″ x 24″ filled and honed travertine tiles with an accent of Bedrosians Kismet Blessed random interlocking tiles on the shower walls. This was grouted using Almond Sand grout.

Day 6 – The countertop installation team arrived to install the Kohler Caxton sinks in white and the beautiful MSI Lagos Azul quartz countertops with a mitered edge.

Days 7 & 8 –  The tile artisans were back on site to install the Bedrosians Kismet Blessed Rhomboid blended mosaic tiles on the backsplash and the Bedrosians Chocolate 12″ x 24″ filled and honed travertine tiles at the tub surround.

Days 9 – 11 – Once again the tile artisans were on site, this time to install the Bedrosians Materia 3D 12″ x 24″ floor tiles. The floor tiles were grouted using Almond Sand grout.

Day 12 – The transformation hit the homestretch with the installation of the plumbing fixtures, light fixtures and accessories.  The Pfister Avalon widespread faucets in brushed nickel were installed at the sinks, the Pfister Avalon handheld shower and trim was installed in the shower and the Pfister Avalon roman tub faucet was installed at the tub. The final day of the project also included an array of “touch-up” items: all outlets and switches were replaced, the shower door was installed and the entire project was cleaned, top-to-bottom.
