We are very excited to share with you one of our first kitchenCRATE Customs we completed– kitchenCRATE Custom Montana Street in Ripon, CA! Such a transformation! As you can see in the photos, we eliminated the half walls to open up the space. As a key feature with our kitchenCRATE Custom product, we designed and created high-quality custom cabinets, incorporating space to fit the new oven, a home for the fridge, and a desk area that the family requested. To top it all off, we love the pop of color along the left wall as a featured accent to match the blue wallpaper that was already there on the other side of the room. New flooring, new lighting, and new layout in just a couple weeks!
But don’t just take our word on how well this kitchen remodel near Ripon, CA turned out. Look below for the project specifications and extensive before and after pictures!

Day by Day Progress
(Note: We added a few extra days to our normal 7-day process to accommodate the owner-request add-ons, like these.)
Here’s how we did it:
Day 1 – Demo Day! On the first day, we set up plastic walls to protect the home from dust, protected the path from the entry door to the kitchen with building paper, and then went to town removing the appliances, countertops, backsplash, plumbing fixtures, outdated lighting, and cabinets (boxes and all!). Prior to demo day, our local cabinet maker took measurements to start creating the cabinets to have them ready ahead of time.
Days 2 & 3 – The CRATE team began prepping the area for the new plumbing as well as the wiring for the new can lighting. Six 6-inch LED recessed light fixtures were placed strategically around the kitchen to optimize the lighting over work spaces. We also finished any extra demolition that did not get done on day one.
Day 4 – Next, we patched the sheetrock at the old track light location as well as the walls that needed to be adjusted.
Day 5 – On this day, the new cabinets were delivered and installed as well as the Plywood subtop.
Day 6 – Now that the cabinets had been installed, our countertop team came in to create the templates so they could start fabricating the quartz countertop off-site.
Days 7-9 – Since all the walls and the ceilings had been protected, our painters began preparing and priming the cabinets in the kitchen. Using a high-grade, oil-based primer every inch of the kitchen cabinets were caulked, sanded and primed. This is the first (and perhaps most critical) step of creating a durable paint finish. The sheetrock at the countertop was also repaired and made ready for the new tile backsplash. The painters then began refinishing the kitchen cabinets in this Modesto home. Two coats of Kelly-Moore Dura-poxy semi-gloss San Franciso Fog paint were applied to the thoroughly sanded and primed cabinets. This same priming and painting process was used on the doors and drawers, which are painted off-site in a climate-controlled paint booth for the highest possible quality. The walls and ceiling in the kitchen also received a fresh coat of Kelly-Moore paint. Kelly Moore’s Dark Secret and Lighthouse paint with a Satin finish were applied to the walls and the ceiling received a fresh coat of Swiss Coffee in a low sheen.
Days 10 & 11 – The countertop installation team arrived to install the beautiful Blanco Precis Silgranit Undermount Super Single Bowl in White and the Concerto Quartz quartz countertops. The tile artisans were on site to install the Arizona Tile Shimmer Pearl 1×4 for the backsplash. The tile was grouted using Bostik Dimension H600 Diamond metallic grout.
Day 12 – The installation of the new freshly-painted cabinet doors and drawers happened on this day. Both the plumbing and electrical were finished this day, including the addition of two new outlets near the desk area that included USB plugins.
Day 13 – New DynaFlex Toronto 556 Simulated Wood Sheet Vinyl flooring was installed.
Day 14 –Now that the new flooring had been completed, the team installed the baseboards. Lastly, the kitchenCRATE team installed the homeowner’s appliances. The final day of the project included an array of “touch-up” items and the entire project was cleaned of all construction debris.
